On the evening of June 15, the 24th Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Awards Ceremony was held at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center. Film and TV professionals at home and abroad witnessed the birth of various Magnolia Awards at this TV festival together with representatives from the cast and crew of the Magnolia Award finalists and Shanghai citizens. Shen Haixiong, deputy director of the Central Publicity Department and head of the Central Radio and Television Station, Ying Yong, deputy secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and mayor of Shanghai, and Fan Weiping, member of the CPC Leadership Group and deputy director of the State Administration of Radio and Television, Zhou Huilin, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and director of the Publicity Department, Gao Xiaomei, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, Weng Tiehui, deputy mayor of Shanghai, and other leaders attended the awards ceremony.
White Deer Plain won award for Best TV Series (China) and He Bing and Ma Yili Best Actor and Best Actress in a Leading Role respectively
In the nominees, both White Deer Plain with 10 nominations and The First Half of My Life with 8 nominations won three awards, with the former winning the Best TV Series (China), Best Director and Best Cinematography awards. According to the jury, White Deer Plain is "A faithful adaptation of the original story, presented in a perfect way". Director Liu Jin was moved when he won "Best Director" and said, "This is the greatest recognition of White Deer Plain. When we were filming, we worked so hard. From the beginning of the preparations, everyone was eager to make a good work. Today, it was recognized.”

In the actor awards section, it is interesting to note that the four award-winning actors won the "Magnolia" trophy for the first time this year. Actor He Bing, who plays He Yuzhu in Honest Person, won the Best Leading Actor award. He said in a backstage interview: "The original name of the character in this play was 'Silly Zhu'. I think this embodies a kind of value that men should be honest to the point as if being silly. If you are like this, then like Zhuzi (He Yuzhu), you will make a difference."

Actress Ma Yili won the Best Leading Actress award for her role as Luo Zijun in The First Half of My Life. Growing up in Shanghai, she said that her long-term wish had finally come true. She said: "I am a child who grew up in a Shanghai alley. It is of special significance for me to win this award in Shanghai." Recalling her performance in the play, she said: "I can’t agree more with a line in the play 'Instead of finding shelter in others’ umbrellas, it is better to stand under your own umbrella.' This is what my parents have always told me since I was a child, and it will also be a true word for me to pass on to my daughters. Independence is what everyone, male or female, should strive to achieve."

Actor Yu Hewei won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role Award for the role of Cao Cao in The Advisors Alliance. It is worth mentioning that he had previously played Liu Bei in another TV series, and this time he reversed the role to play Cao Cao, and therefore, he was called "a specialist in the Three Kingdoms". She said in a backstage interview that she "practiced Shanghai accent when shooting, chatted with friends in Shanghai, and over time, the director told me that I felt more and more like an old lady in Shanghai, which made me very happy."
In addition, in order to encourage professionals of the TV industry to carry forward the spirit of craftsmanship and persevere in excellence, this year's Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Awards have added two production technology awards, namely Best Cinematography and Best Art Direction. Huang Wei (White Deer Plain) won the Best Cinematography award, and the Best Art Direction award was given to The Advisors Alliance. In order to encourage Chinese professionals to take the step of "going global" and show the world excellent Chinese culture through TV series, this year’s festival has also set up an international communication award. This award was won by two TV series, Beautiful Daughter-in-Law and Romance of Our Parents.
